Hi,
I own the above and have had it for the past twenty years and it has been serviced my Merc isle of Man for all that time.
Some months ago the car developed a fault. It starts perfectly well when cold and if started again in 10 minutes but if after 45 mins or a journey of 7 miles it needs to be turned over many times before it will fire up then runs erratic for a few seconds then clears.
The car has been back and forth to Merc IOM and had new petrol pump, filter, air filter, plugs and numerous other things costing £750.
The Merc garage cant tell me whats up which is not good to say thee least.
At traffic lights the same thing happens where the car wants to shut down which is not helpful to say the least.
Does anyone have any thoughts.
Much appreciated

Could be a fuel pressure issue - possibly the accumulator or injectors leaking. One tip in the meantime that makes starting easier - put the auto box into "D" and try to start the car - it won't but the fuel pump will run. If you do this for say 10 seconds you will increase the fuel pressure which may make starting easier afterwards.
