Hi can anybody help me. My c250 turbo diesel. Won’t fire and the lights in the rear view mirror flash I have read online that it’s an immobiliser issue. Is it possible just to bypass the fuel pump ??

Hello and welcome,

We don’t discuss bypassing of immobilisers here for fairly obvious reasons…

The car must have at least one red and one green led working for the immobiliser to disengage. That can be one in the door handle and one in the mirror, but it must have one red and one green working. If it’s only reds or only greens it won’t disengage

Failing that you will need the services of an auto locksmith. There are plenty about who will bypass the system for you, but you’ll need to provide proof of ownership before they will do it.

Have you replaced the key batteries, I know it strange as it's seems to be working but we have replaced the batteries and the system works correctly??? Cheap try.

Caught me out twice on my W210s. Doors would unlock, you'd hear the ignition key lock disengage, the engine would turn over and not start.

I went to a so called Mercedes specialist. And they said the car is so old they wouldn’t know what to do

I have done that but to be honest the key is in a sorry state. Has tape holding it together but the uv light flashes To be honest I think I just want to find sombody who can remove the immobilisar I have not used the car for over a year. And it’s really clean it’s just a waste ( im in the north east if anybody has any recommendations)

I’m a specialist and there are few mercs that we have decided not to work on due to their age and the availability of parts which can also be a major problem. The time/cost of repairing some older cars renders it uneconomical along with the need to store a car whilst the owner finds parts is an issue for a smaller garage with limited parking. There are specialist that just deal in older cars and won’t touch modern stuff.

Absolutely understand this.
However the op said his specialist claimed not to know what to do. My interpretation of this was their lack of knowledge, but l could have misinterpreted.

Late reply but I know how to fix this. It's likely your DAS module (driver authorisation system) has bitten the dust and isn't giving authorisation for the ECU to move the rack in the pump or open the black plastic valve on the side of the pump. The easiest way to fix it is to fit an immobiliser emulator in the ECU (requires some soldering plus editing the file in the immobiliser chip which has to be de-soldered, read, edited, re-written, re-soldered). You then disconnect the two CAN wires from the DAS module behind the instrument cluster (usually have to remove steering wheel to get at it unless you have an adjustable column) and the ECU will then operate off the ignition live from the ignition switch without needing authorisation from DAS.
I've fixed a few W202s and W210 C250 and E300 TD which had immo issues like this, even fixed all keys lost and broken ignition switch scenarios via immo emulating the ECU.
Does it make the car more stealable? A bit perhaps, but they would still need to get inside the car and somehow get around the steering lock (not possible without a grinder) and somehow know that you have the DAS system bypassed to try to hot wire it. Personally I'd rather take the risk than be held hostage by a geriatric immobiliser. Your other option if you want to keep the security pyramid fully intact is to get hold of a donor set of keys, DAS module and ECU which might not be easy for a mk1 C250 TD. Seeing as your key remote is knackered/ spare missing it might be worth looking for a spare security set for your car as they do come up on ebay- DAS module, keys, ECU should be all you need. It should be possible to fit the blade off your old key into the replacement key remotes.
If you can post me your ECU I can fit an immo emulator though. Can also re-map/ chip it for some more horse power.

the easiest way he says LOL
These cars had sophisticated immobilisers for their time and as the OP has found out most garages don't know how to fix something they can't flash via a laptop. Emulating the immobiliser in the ECU is the easiest and also usually the cheapest solution if they send me the ECU. It will return to them "plug and play" and in most cases they don't need to remove the CAN wires from the DAS module. Occasionally there's a CAN network conflict though and they have have to be unplugged.
On facelift cars it's really easy because the DAS module and EIS are one unit so it's a 2 min job to disconnect the WSP.
On pre-facelift cars it is possible to remove the drivers side tweeter and heater vent by the headlight control, remove lower dash panel, ease the cluster out and you can just about get your hand up inside the dash from underneath to pull out the CAN wires from the DAS module.

Changing all the security matched parts is a lot more work and usually a fair bit more expensive but clearly has advantages for the OP seeing as he only has one knackered key fob.
