Hi, I have a small amount of movement on the front wheel when you pull it top to bottom, it has it's MoT Friday. (May be a ball joint). I take it that it is a tapered bearing on the front wheel. I have taken off the grease cap and see a lock nut/Clamp that has a bolt through it. I take it that you undo the bolt and turn the nut/Clamp clockwise until there is some friction, then turn it back a touch to see if that cures it, or am I being too simplistic?

Yes that is how it works . There is a torque setting for the locking nut. If you search YouTube for Mercedes front wheel bearing adjustment there will be some vids of it all

A small amount of movement on a taper roller bearing does it no harm at all. The worst thing you can do is over tighten them as they can overheat and seize.

Thank you. I will check again to make sure I have not overdone it.
