Hello all

Just got a new 2015 a class, whilst all the buttons and switches are straight forward to work out there are 2 buttons above rear view mirror, 1 has pic of a car and the other a pic of a car with what looks to be an upside down question mark (my eyesight is not the best in the world) cant for the life of me work out what they do.

Thanxz in advance for any help.

Sorry if this is in the wrong section.

A picture would help. The upside down ? could be a tow hook so perhaps this turns off the movement alarm for towing. What does the handbook say?

Welcome to the forum, by the way!

Yes welcome
One as Srdl says (the one with the upside down ?) is indeed the alarm switch off to allow towing, the other will have another mark on it and it’s to turn off the internal motion sensor on the alarm

Thank you so much for your replies- didn’t get a handbook with car but what you have both said about them being to turn off motion sensor for alarm and for towing purposes makes a lot of sense..
Once again thank you so much

Digital versions of the owners handbooks for later models can be viewed online on the Mercedes Benz website. There is even an app to download them to your phone.

I’m amazed how many cars seem to be sold on without the owners manuals still present, shocking really and I’m not sure what possible use anyone could have for these when they sell the car on?Weird

Owners do strange things like keep the manual on their book case at home, and then when they sell the car, they never put them back in...

Best to keep the manual in the car, especially if it explains how to do emergency things like change bulbs, jump starting, changing wheels etc.

I'll give up driving if I ever get to the stage of needing a manual for any of the above ;)

Keep my book in the house but I do have a manual loaded into Comand.

And yes I do read it occasionally.

Good point - wonder how many people have the manual in Comand by a previous owner and don’t know its there?

I have to confess - I have a duplicate printed copy at home (bought new from eBay), the original in the car, and pdf versions on my iPhone, laptop and car's head unit ... and bookmarked interactive manual in my browsers on all three

I thought that until the sunroof motor failed in my old Golf one day. The manual came in right handy then! (Trim cover off, offset Allan key provided popped out and hand crank the roof closed).

I confess to be like GLK and read the manual when I get a new car - just to understand how it all works.
Mrs LK on the other hand won't read the manual but will instead do random button pushing if she doesn't understand leaving me to untangle the mess she creates when she gives up in disgust saying its broken.

The manuals for all my cars are in the gloveboxes (except the Smart where the glovebox is too small even for a pair of ermm... gloves).

OK confession time. I ordered my E Coupe in December for a 1st March delivery and then spent the next couple of months reading every detail in the online manual but at least I knew everything about the car when I picked it up. I still think the confession from @GLK is sadder!
