2000 CLK 230 Avantgarde coupe with driver seat issue

Good evening ladies and gents.

Ok so my next dilemma is the drivers seat.

It will move forward but will not go backwards at all, also when you release the seat and bring it forwa4d to get in the back it does not go forward for the easy entry.

Any and all help will be greatly appreciated so I can get in and drive it haha.

So does the seat move on the switch on the door panel, but not on the release lever on the seat?

My passenger side has a dodgy switch on the door, takes some fiddling to get the seat to slide back.

I expect I need to get a used witch off eBay, there are some on there between £25 - £40.

Is yours a Coupe or a Cabriolet?

I've had a lot of similar problems on my 2001 Cabriolet.

Make sure its mechanically sound before you spend a lot on cosmetics, wheels, this seat problem etc.

Maybe have it serviced, Mercedes do a 7+ years basic service and inspection for £139. Also check the auto gearbox fluid level, and check the fluid isnt in the ECU under the passenger floor, as that will make it fail.

Hiya, car is mechanically sound, had it looked over before getting it, just not had any tlc in a while, full service history with the car, most recent was 5k miles ago. Just some pain in the rear issues, last mot advisory was just 2tyres near limit that was it. Needs a lot of little touches to make it perfect. Thanks god bodywork is mint..

Getting there though.

As for the seat, you can pull forward to get in the back, it’s just it won’t move backwards when you use the switch on the door, passenger seat is fine. The battery was dead when I picked up the car and I’ve read a few things regarding putting seat all the way forward to reset or something, bit scared to try that in case it go s proper Pete tong....

Sounds the same as my passenger side. I have to kind of lift the switch outwards a bit when I move it backwards, then it works and moves the seat.

Dodgy contacts I guess. I'll have to get around to replacing it at some point, but I've spent quite a bit getting mine mechanically sound and on the alloys and tyres, so these minor issues will have to wait a while....
