When My Car is Idling it has started to give out a loud squeal:confused: that sounds like a mass of Crickets, it disappears as soon as Revs exceed 1,000RPM it sounds like it's coming from A/C Compressor, Aux Belt was changed last Year, Car has done 130K

If mainly there from a cold start the belt could be slipping and it needs to be tightened, one of the components in that circuit could do it but not normally

Thanks Malcolm

Not the Belt, & not there at Start up only when warm, I know its not Steering pump either, it's very annoying though

mine makes the "chirping" noise when cold started and left to tickover.
Its when the load comes on to the alternator and its trying to tell me to change the bearings as they are shot ! (already changed the one way bearing)

As above my guess would be the alternator one way pulley (OAP), worth checking with the belt off to see if it works.

Guys

Many thanks for all suggestions looks like it's the one way pulley on Alternator,Search Archives and found quite a few posts describing exactly the same noise, and symptoms,
Just need to get it done now, apparently a "Special" Tool is required

Many do it without the special tool I believe

One part of the tool slides into the alternator shaft (splined) and holds it from rotating, the second part of the tool slides over the first and locates inside the pulley (splined) then you just unscrew the pulley from the shaft..
