2010 C220 CDI
Hi all, new to the forum. Like many others I've joined hoping some more experienced Merc enthusiasts might be able to give me some ideas before I have to turn to the MB dealership, no doubt requiring me to sell a kidney.

So, as the title suggests, I've got a w204 c220 cdi which runs beautifully most of the time. But recently it started doing something odd.

When I first start it in the morning and get going it has no power and struggles to rev past 2-2.5k. However, the moment the temperature gauge hits 40 degrees it all comes good. I just can't figure out what might cause a lack of power but only to 40 degrees.

Also, I can force the issue by putting it in first gear and accelerating quickly from zero, which sort of helps it push up to 3000rpm and then all comes good even under 40 degrees.

What could be the cause of the above?

I did do a check of the ecu and could not find any fault codes and I did notice there was no boost until it comes good but I guess the lack of boost could be a symptom rather than the cause of the issue.

Any ideas are most welcome and if I can clarify anything, just let me know.

Thanks all

Blocked KAT? The top ones usually fail, the webbing breaks and causes it to fall backwards and block the exhaust. Just the general movement of the engine could throw it forward the 2cm it needs to breath again. The heat could be a red herring.
