Having been quoted between £800 and a £1000 to rebuild my noisy diff (whining) on my '96 Sprinter 412D I have decided the most econimal route would be to take a chance on a complete secondhand axle and get somebody to fit it. Problem is there are loads of single axles available but I can't find any twin wheeled ones? I've tried Part Finder and scoured evilbay but no luck. So if you should have one lurking somewhere please let me know. I don't want to pay silly money but will pay a fair price and fingers crossed it doesn't turn out to be as knackered my current one!

Price a new one you'll get a suprise, we fit new ones and we can overhaul them, but it's not worth it, you also get 12 mts warranty. To be honest twin wheel axles are crap from new so a good second hand one? All of ours are 416/516, so it could be differnt.

This is my point we dont overhaul them, it cost's more in parts than it does for a new one £1500. We dont o/h boxes, £800, the gears alone come to more than that. All the manufactures do this now, they dont want to sell parts, just complete units. Price one up and see what they say, like I say ours are 416 and we are a big buyer and I know we get top notch discount, but even if it's £2k it's better than buying s/h, been there done that, it's not worth the hassle.
