Trying to determine when the upgraded transmission was introduced on E350 CDi E class .

I have a nov2010 estate with 265 Bhp motor but not sure if it has upgraded unit.

Also looking at 2011 E350 CDi cabrio which has the 231 Bhp engine but again which transmission will it have

Thanks
David

Think any 350 has the upgraded box it was the smaller engines that came slightly later,

As far as I am aware Matt the early 7spd 350cdi cars suffered a throttle/gearbox lag/delay which could be tricky when pulling out at junctions/roundabouts etc and this was resolved with the 7spd+ transmission along with other tweeks so there will be transmission part number change over (perhaps Malcolm could help here)

Sadly the one thing that I do not get is the dates for changes, the info can only be got from the data card. (I hope)

No 2010 has the 7g+, the 7g+ was from around June 2011

Coupes and Cabs are different.

From the data sheet...

Transmission:
722906 03 413489 [transmissionType = GA]

I think the 03 shows it is the Plus 'box, if it is regular 7g it will be 02.

That is what I was told a while ago anyway, and so far everyone I have seen has matched that, but it could be coincidence.

My 212 registered 03-2012 which has the 7g+ box for comparison has:

722903 03 943952

Ok so ended up on website which allowed me to input the VIn which then told me the following , and has all the options on the car correct so looks to be valid.

Transmission 722903 03 038917 ( transmission type GA )

So looks like previous advice that my car has 7G not 7G+ transmission is wrong?

My VIN is WDD2122232A358550 built 27-10-10 registered 05/11/10

This again is not easy as some models say for 2011 actually come out in say 09-10, this is the case with the CL coupes that I run. Again all we can do is to assume that 03 denotes the plus box, if I find anything else I will post it up.

if I put my details into the ESS its says it needs a gearbox service at 75000 / 5years not the 3 year 37000 mile interval ..... the 7G+ has the longer interval to its trans service.

Interesting since it had it trans service by MB Exeter at 37500 ????

But based on my experience with them I should not be surprized.

Thats my local but I never use the service, another way we could ask a member with a newer car to give us his number.

It's a shame you can't get the OASIS report as that tells you what version it is.

This is from my car (2013 S212) and code 427 is the 7G+

That makes it more confusing then if they're using the same code for 2 different types of software on the box.
