Mercedes C 180 COUPE 2012. Got a hissing noise when my AC is on? Feels cold, but even when i switch the AC off the hissing noise is still there.

Any ideas?

Gas is low in the system. Eventually the hissing noise will stop with the AC off (5-10 minutes).

Would MERC offer to top it up for free? Its going in for a service next week. The offer for ATS is good, but I don't want to buy it just incase?

Merc don't do anything for free!
MB charge £69 at present for an A/C regas.

The refrigerant spec is in the manual..

At that age I'd say its r134a refrigerant with PAG46 oil.
