Me and the car have been out this weekend, down to MSL for a dyno day, stopping over in N Wales last night, into work this morning (briefly) and then back home with the car looking a bit grubby after being caught in a rainstorm on the way back.
No problem, in the garage, dry it off and then a quick detailing spray over to sort it.
Unfortunately, I then decided to put a bit of spray wax on it. Started on the boot lid and immediately knew something was wrong due to the smell and the way it came out of the nozzle in a stream as opposed to a mist. Looked at the label and realised I'd just sprayed wheel cleaner all over the boot. :x
After the initial panic, I wiped it off with a cloth, which was dragging like mad, then washed it down with a damp cloth to try and remove all traces but ended up claying all the boot to make sure I'd got it all. Hopefully it'll be OK now, it was a non-acidic cleaner and I seem to have got rid of it all, but it was a nervous few minutes.
I've now made a mental note to read the ****** labels before using stuff instead of just grabbing off the shelf.
