Me and the car have been out this weekend, down to MSL for a dyno day, stopping over in N Wales last night, into work this morning (briefly) and then back home with the car looking a bit grubby after being caught in a rainstorm on the way back. :(

No problem, in the garage, dry it off and then a quick detailing spray over to sort it.

Unfortunately, I then decided to put a bit of spray wax on it. Started on the boot lid and immediately knew something was wrong due to the smell and the way it came out of the nozzle in a stream as opposed to a mist. Looked at the label and realised I'd just sprayed wheel cleaner all over the boot. :x

After the initial panic, I wiped it off with a cloth, which was dragging like mad, then washed it down with a damp cloth to try and remove all traces but ended up claying all the boot to make sure I'd got it all. Hopefully it'll be OK now, it was a non-acidic cleaner and I seem to have got rid of it all, but it was a nervous few minutes.

I've now made a mental note to read the ****** labels before using stuff instead of just grabbing off the shelf. :p

is this another thing we are putting down to age Dave :)

I can imagine you will now be spending the rest of the afternoon reapplying wax to it

I sprayed the same Dave all over the inside of the wind screen on my V70R, so as I know longer use this kind of tyre cleaner the bottle are out of sight.

It was a shocking mess.

could have been worse. you could be like i am and have bottles of stuff that the labels fell off years ago, so have to resort to removing the top and sniffing to see what the contents smell like to identify them!

I did something similar. Opened the roof on the R230, too close to the back wall of the underground car park.

Made a very small paint chip underneath the 3rd brake light!! Will only do that once.

Washing up liquid is good for removing stuff like that for future reference. However as you've clayed the boot you should be ok. You will probably need to apply any wax/sealant as depending on what you use it may have eaten away at it. You would need to do the same if you use fairy liquid too and I wouldn't recommend cleaning the full car with it! It won't leave it feeling as soft as your face!! :p

Few years ago, house move, up at 4 am.

Bathroom cabinet, reached for the eye drops, got 2 drops of Earex instead.

Seems OK now Carl, and it's had the usual Lime Prime/Polish/Wax now so hopefully got away with it. Incidentally, Sonax High Speed spray wax used after a QD is amazing stuff. Silky smooth and really "pops". :)

I clean my car with a bucket of sand as I find it more abrasive than clay and really shifts the muck

I rinse it all down with hydrofluoric acid mixed with bleach to kill any bacteria on the bodywork

I buff the tyres with a wire brush

And use 240 grit wet and dry on the wheels as I don't want to be using that harsh acidic stuff on my nice wheels

Got to be back to the sand to give it that really deep down clean.

My dad new a guy who bought a lorry for his coal round before the war, he took the windscreen out as he said you could not see where you were going, so take it out and nothing to clean:D:D

Sonax make some really good products. But they don't have the name over here like they do in the Fatherland.

Their Deep Gloss Shampoo i really rate along with their Xtreme Protect & Shine Hybrid NPT. That gives a good 6mths protection with ease on a daily driver and can be applied with minimal fuss.

Their Profiline Polymer net Shield is also very very good but is a bit finnicky to apply. That lasts a good 12mths.

late one night and no, i hadn't been drinking, I made a cup of coffee with gravy browning, milk, sugar and drank it without noticing whilst watching a film. I did notice that there was an awful lot of coffee granules left in the bottom of the cup. It was pointed out to me the next day by the missus washing the mugs otherwise I would have been none the wiser. I don't normally drink "instant" and certainly didn't that night!

Similar experience here, late for work, mixed up toothpaste and pile cream.

I now have receding gums and a ring of confidence.

Reminds me of a pal of mine. After a few scoofs he decided on a midnight snack. Woke in the morning wondering why he had a tin of beans on his bedside locker, until he went downstairs to find the microwave destroyed after trying to cook his:rolleyes alarm clock.
