2010 A 160 door mirror indicator glass replacement

2nd posting on this subject. I have searched the internet and have not found any details on the A160 glass exchange. I have purchased the replacement but can find no one with the knowledge on fitting apart from my local dealer, who wants big money, to do what I was told, is less than a 30-minute job. So, please, any advice would be so helpful. regards George

A160

Thanks Malcolm,
I have looked up the number and it would seem that it is a W169. The drawing looks different because the indicator glass runs the full length of the mirror. I will check it out tomorrow and see if I can sort it. My sincere thanks for your help

A160 Wing mirror

Bit of a job because of the limited space Prying the bows. Had to make a long wood wedge finally. Malcolm, the drawings you kindly sent were not correct to detail but they were good enough to get me on the right track for which I "thank you". Having thought about it, for a person with little skill, like myself, it would have made life easier if the mirror lens is removed first. Proper Job!

Sadly not all details are updated in WIS, but at least you got there and all done.

Would anyone be able to pass on this information or describe the steps to replace the indicator please?

I can remove the glass but there is another casing behind this and it's not obvious what the next step is. Don't want to break anything!

Thanks.

Actually, you don't need to remove the glass, to get to the indicator.
I have installed a camera in the left mirror, so went through this just last month:

Thank-you very much.

Just read the news about Malcolm. Very sad to hear.

When you say this can be done without removing glass, do I pick these instruction up from step 4?

No, you go step-by-step from number 1.

Basically, tilt the mirror glass to access top bows, then bottom ones, this will release the top cover and the indicator lamp will be reachable.

The mirror glass just unclips from the round holder, if it's more convenient / makes easy to reach inside, you might as well remove it, while working on the lamp replacement.

Just finished the job now. Took my time with the above guide superb.

This is the second one that’s been replaced on this side, near side has been there since new. The LEDs were extremely dim and showed signs of moisture ingress in one corner (the one that doesn’t have the rubber tube beneath it!)

Thanks again.

Hi
Did you find information anywhere on how to remove the mirror glass. Apparently that has to be removed and then its possible to get at the plastic lens on an A200 W609. Mine has broken and I have a new one but can't find out how to get to it other than a mechanic told my brother take out the glass and then there are screws and its easy.

Point the mirror fully down. On the back of the mirror at the top is a wire clip. Flick the clip off the retaining lugs and the mirror falls out.
