I have an A170 CDi Auto (168) which has lost all forward drive.

While driving forward at approx 30mph there was a bang and forward drive was lost momentarily then picked up again, after a couple more hundred yards forward drive was lost completely, but reverse still works fine.

I have tried placing the gear stick in drive 1,2 & 3 gears on the auto gear box but still nothing will work at all can anyone shed any light on this problem for me please?
There are no oil leaks from the gearbor either and we have had no previous problems either. :(

New gear box is needed. Sorry for the bad news. Take the sump pan off and look for metal.

It will be quite expensive to replace. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.
