Car keeps scraping over speed bumps even when driving very slow to the annoyance of drivers following , is this normal for the A Class
Didn't have this problem with our previous A140 53 reg though.
Thx

No, that shouldn't be happening.

Do you know, if your suspension is a standard one or sports, or perhaps custom lowered?

If it is standard or factory sports, and you have OE specified wheels and tyres, I'd check to see if all the springs are intact, and also to see if any of the underbody plastic covers are fully attached - I had one barely hanging there (literally) on a single nut, instead of three - it was actually broken (at the mounting points), so was replaced with a new part.

I go trough enough speed bumps, unfortunately, and my suspension is sports (10mm factory lowered) - never had this problem.

I would thoroughly check the springs - sometimes they might have their very tip snapped off, and it's really hard to see, when car is on the ground.

Also, do you know whether they are the original ones, or perhaps a previous owner fitted a lowering set?

Little tip - don't straddle the cushions - it will damage your tyre sidewalls and can cause serious cracking.

I will bet you have Avantguard spec with mud flaps front and back and it mainly scraps on the front ;)

totally normal, my wife's does exactly the same on the low speed humps ie the ones in car parks,

Yep, it's only on the low speed hump it happens David, normal ones are fine. It's certainly the way as the car drops off the back of the hump and it bounces down it just catches the back edge if the hard plastic flaps, I've checked it so many times after and yet to find any real damage, odd small scratch but nothing more

Hi thanks for the feedback,
Yes it's the Avantgarde spec but no mud flaps fitted, just seems to go over some ok but sometimes you brace yourself for the worse ! On ones we know that have scraped previously tend to drive with one side going over the centre of the speed bump rather than straddling each side

Okay so if your straddling then your probably catching the very bottom of the bumper, did the same in my wife’s once on a bumpy back road

Thank you for the tip.
In that case, can we tell the councils (or the dept. of Transport) to replace the cushion humps ?
