You're more than welcome good sir :)

Let us know how you get on, we have o-ring kits (well nearly all..) and on the way to developing a fairer replacement. These have never existed before.

Actually that gives me an idea. I wonder if the Club would support maintaining a centralised list of replacement parts sources from members/ sponsors?

Will do... Might be a good idea if the part is common to various models ...... BTW been meaning to ask you if you have kept the original phone in your CL? Mine is equipped with Nokia 6090 RTE-4HB... MB P/No.A2038201835 ... No blue tooth of course ... Undecided what to do at the moment whether to fit a sim and occasionally use the 6090 and get Bluetooth hands free thingy for my mobile phone. The ViseeO VISEEO MBU-1000 Bluetooth Adapter for Mercedes will not fit my base.

Gaiter update

Still researching for gaiter replacements re: suspension legs ... Had a bit of a measure up and they are approximately 5" I/D and 5.25" O/D. So far these seem to resemble the gaiters best. eBay No122393120076. Dimensions might be slightly too big. Thinking about purchasing one if I can get it cheap enough, just in case it doesn't fit.

Cheers

Sorry Dave. Missed this post. I have the factory original Nokia 6310 and it's still in good working order! I've replaced it with a Visseeo MBU-3000 which works fine, just signal strength for me is the issue which I'm hoping my hidden fix will sort out.

rear gaiters.jpg

Rear gaiter update. didn't purchase item I mentioned (post 106 ).... tried various options from advice and suggestions. Just purchased these on eBay @ £75. Bit steep but mine are shot. Any advice with regard to removing the leg would be helpful, in particular gaining access to the top mounting. Thank you.

2005 CL500.
The rear top mounts are accessed from inside the car.

There are two covers, like speaker covers, on either end of the rear shelf. Remove, then cut through the insulatioin to reveal the 3 nuts. Be careful not to cut the cable to the tops of the struts.

Naraic.

Thought I would update you on the progress of the gaiter change on rear suspension legs. Remove the legs almost as per video. I removed the lower aluminium control arm and didn't disconnect the track control arm. Reason I decided to do it that way was I only had to remove one more bolt and I could clean and polish the aluminium bracket :) plus it would give me more room to manoeuvre. Bit extravagant with the choice of Hammerite paint but that's what I had in the shed!... All reassembled with lovely new gaiters.. Fairly easy job thanks to you .. cheers

Dave, was this the gaiter that you ended up buying? I might very well be after a set.

How difficult was it to actually remove the gaiter?

Piece of cake .... thought the hydraulic coupling would give me grief but came apart quite easily once the hydralic pressure had been released ... release the top and bottom clips and slide the gaiter down... bit rubber grease on inside of new gaiter and it slides up nicely ..top clip is supplied but not the bottom .. purchase replacement or refit original ..
