apparently the gaiters which cover the rear ABC suspension legs do NOT come separately? Can anybody think of an alternative rubber convoluted gaiter which might suffice. All I can think of is those that go over motorcycle coil springs on the front forks?
You're more than welcome good sir
Let us know how you get on, we have o-ring kits (well nearly all..) and on the way to developing a fairer replacement. These have never existed before.
Actually that gives me an idea. I wonder if the Club would support maintaining a centralised list of replacement parts sources from members/ sponsors?
Will do... Might be a good idea if the part is common to various models ...... BTW been meaning to ask you if you have kept the original phone in your CL? Mine is equipped with Nokia 6090 RTE-4HB... MB P/No.A2038201835 ... No blue tooth of course ... Undecided what to do at the moment whether to fit a sim and occasionally use the 6090 and get Bluetooth hands free thingy for my mobile phone. The ViseeO VISEEO MBU-1000 Bluetooth Adapter for Mercedes will not fit my base.
that seems easy enough ... thanks for your help ...The rear top mounts are accessed from inside the car.
There are two covers, like speaker covers, on either end of the rear shelf. Remove, then cut through the insulatioin to reveal the 3 nuts. Be careful not to cut the cable to the tops of the struts.
Gaiter update
Still researching for gaiter replacements re: suspension legs ... Had a bit of a measure up and they are approximately 5" I/D and 5.25" O/D. So far these seem to resemble the gaiters best. eBay No122393120076. Dimensions might be slightly too big. Thinking about purchasing one if I can get it cheap enough, just in case it doesn't fit.
Cheers
Craig better be swift, possibly have only one set left ... currently item is 322757401270 ... dealer ens-autoteile .. best of luckDave, was this the gaiter that you ended up buying? I might very well be after a set.
Piece of cake .... thought the hydraulic coupling would give me grief but came apart quite easily once the hydralic pressure had been released ... release the top and bottom clips and slide the gaiter down... bit rubber grease on inside of new gaiter and it slides up nicely ..top clip is supplied but not the bottom .. purchase replacement or refit original ..How difficult was it to actually remove the gaiter?
