hiya all,

Went to top up the air on with a Halfords kit. I’ve done it this way as I’ve 2 cars to top up.

Filled well went cold, then emptied.
I can hear air/ gas escaping from small radiator n/s of the car.
Take it one is aircon and one is oil filled ??

Anyone changed the rad??
Opinions poss and meg welcome

you should be able to change the rad get any seals changed at same time .then air con OFF i would go someplace dealing with air con and have the system evacuated and refilled by them the halfords stuff is ok i have used it a few times but if yr re filling after a repair its not a bad idea to have the system evacuated and all,any crud flushed

Can I remove and still drive the car ? There is a small hole at the top near the hose. Was thinking of getting the whole thing reconditioned?

Or if anyone knows a good supplier and part number I’d be well appreciated

would not bother with repair, tried that loads of times here. rarely works materials slightly different weld cracks, specialist job. just replace ,if you have to save use a breaker, but have risk of same drama again.

All I can find online is the big radiator not the small one with two pipes. It’s the small condenser in the picture.

That doesn't look like its Aircon related. Aircon only has a single large condenser.
That looks like an oil cooler for transmission perhaps or possibly the fuel cooler?

That’s where all the gas is coming from when I top it up.

Big rad is water, o/s is oil for transmission?, diesel cooler on top the engine block. And then this one on the n/s floating about

That's definitely not A/C related.
Normally for a diesel with a turbo you would have an A/C condenser and immediately behind that coolant radiator. These are normally full size and take up the full width and height of the area behind the grille.Somewhere there will be an intercooler (low down across the front I think). You may then also have a fuel cooler, oil cooler (usually on the side of the block) and a transmission cooler (location is model dependent and may be external or integral to the radiator. That's too small for aircon.

The only thing i can think of is a previous owner has bodged in a retrofit condenser. the gas defiantly comes out this small rad on filling the system.

I'll try and post a better image of the 3 rads later

if from there some bodging been going on no way jubilee clip going to seal ac gas pipe. would leave ac compessor off, until resolved or you will likely scrap that as well. suggest you pass indie or dealer and have it checked out,get quote. and or you go look another same model see whats going on.

Defiantly the large rad/condenser
Put some clingfilm over the front, added gas and could see where it was blowing out the front. Still no idea what the other small rad is but doesn’t matter now.
Off to sell a kidney for a new condenser
