I have recently changed from a C180 to a C250TD and am absolutely over the moon with the car. However I have a slight problem, if I switch off the ignition and remove the key quite briskly the horn will sound. If I leave the key switched off for two or three seconds before removing it, it does'nt beep.

It does not do it every time but always at embarrassing situations such as at a filling station or always when people are nearby!

Also the rear washer pump is always trying to run when the interior fan is switched on. The pump is getting 1.5 volts but stops when the fan is switched off.

My local dealer suggested trying a new battery, which I have done but it is still doing it. The next step is to book it into the dealer for them to sort it, problem is I bought the car from an independent MB specialist many miles away and he does not want me to claim on the warranty within the first 28 days.

I was wondering if anybody here has had a similiar problem before I fall out with the bloke I bought it from.

Take it back pronto. Insist he fixes the car as it was faulty when he sold it to you.

A word of caution. A collegue of mine has purchased an E220CDi from an MB dealer. The gearbox is playing up and the dealer is no longer an MB dealer. The warranty company is not interested because the fault existed when the car was sold and the dealer is unwilling to repair at their cost. A new gearbox has been fitted after much aggro. but the fault still exists.
