After my year long tolerance of the squeaking that was coming from poly V fan belt post renewal, I have had to change its tensioner and damper.

I turns out also that my alternator has developed a major rattle and I am told the bearings are gone.

I suspect the belt was not properly installed on renewal but thats another war.

What I want to know is, the are some remanufactured alternators being offered from the US but being the US they just have 260 and 300 related 124 parts hence 70A and 90A.

Is the 70 A alternator useable on the 230ce?

Hi Bruno,
We met at Haynes.
Why not just take your old one to any auto electrical company & get it overhauled ?

Agreed - They can change the bearings really easily. Had a very rattly one done myself a few years ago - cost me around £15 and they did it whilst I waited.
Never understood why people replace alternators. 90% of them never wear out at the remaining 10% are fairly cheap to sort. It's rather like changing the car when the tyres are bald!
