^ First time I've seen a wheel weight on the outside face of a wheel.

If you have a branch of Halfords in Antrim I would take a look at all the silver paints they have on offer. The colour on the cap is usually pretty representative of the paint inside.

Also check Homebase - they do a silver chrome as well. We used that on our V8 coffee table.

You see it loads of times, though newer cars' wheels tend not to have the lip to allow them to be fitted on there. I always insisted they used stick on weights on the inside when my previous cars'wheels had the lip.

It was a quick job for the summer. I have another set on now with Crossclimates fitted and that set will need a proper refurb before refitting.

It does a bit but if you don't it dulls anyway.

Seen this in home base although it’s a metallic finish but looks very bright, don’t know if it could be laquared over , but might not need it.
    Any thoughts.

How much will it cost to paint and how much time will it take including all the prepping?
Get a £ figure including all materials and add time cost at the rate you get paid in your job.

Now find the cost of a professional job. With some you can drive in and out in the same day, just get transport so you can use the time the car is left. Full wheels or just the faces can be done.

Take the cost of doing it yourself away from the cost of someone else doing it for you.
Divide that cost by the number of years you will keep the car before it will need doing again. That's the extra cost to get a nice job done for you.

That's the way I think of jobs, not the actual cost but how much it actually cost me for each year of enjoyment. Maybe 4 years?
My view is it's no contest, get a professional job done unless you're needing to do a cheap job to sell it on.

If you put a clear coat over it use a clear polyurethane paint not a lacquer.
Test a small area (or a test piece off the car) before committing to it.

Mercedes brilliant Silver, the ubiquitous 744, from Halfords @ circa £6 a can. Plus lacquer.

Fair enough, I used to like doing things myself too. Learning the skills is enjoyable and the pride of doing a good job is great.
These days I usually prefer to get someone else to do it and use my time for something more enjoyable.
