Back to a tyre issue which I posted a while ago.Well the rear tyres are now as low as I'm prepared to go so last Saturday I ordered 2 Kumho KU31 tyres from a local tyre dealer.£90 each all in so that sounded ok.I rang them last Thursday to check they had them in as I could'nt get to them to have them fitted until today."Yes we have them in stock." I said,"I'll be in on Saturday around 1.30pm, Ok was the answer. So,I called in promptly at 1.30pm today and there was an air of sheepishness about a few of the fitters,I had to repeat that I'd come to have the tyres I ordered fitted and a fitter after consultation with his colleagues said, " theres been a bit of a ---- up. Oh, why? Well this guy came in this morning with a BMW asking for Kumho tyres which just happened to be the same size as the ones I'd ordered and off he went with my tyres!! We can get you some more for Monday, keeping my composure I said " I don't think so" and I've just about stopped chuntering, well almost.

He did'nt do anything wrong, but it just had to be a BMW driver who decided to go to the place I'd ordered my tyres within a very short time span and get two unusual size tyres off the shelf even asking for the same make! Some might say lucky but it's so irritating when it was the first opportunity I had to get my tyres fitted! No chance to get any tyres now over the weekend and the tyre people did'nt even put the tyres in stock as sold to a customer!

It happens all the time... best thing to do in such a situation is to put a deposit on the items.. then they are yours, until you say you dont want them.. Many , many people order parts etc for cars and never come back for them..

Plus if you had snatched them from the BMW driver..would you have been so angry.. I know it is not nice..

I tried to save the day and in utter desperation went to a Kwik fit branch. Err Question,"What stock do you have in 245/40/17's" ? Well we only have Michelin....ok how much? £444.00 for the two. Ok as I left...shaking head.

But, he didn't know. I presume he asked for the tyres, and was delighted they had them in. The retailer if the eejit.

Do we know that for sure? ;) A £10 note slipped in secures himself tyres, hassle free and available that day.

In all likelihood you are correct though.

Yes, cackling away no doubt, saying "never expected to get that size tyre off the shelf, never have before, and Kumho's aswell, exactly what I wanted! I won't put on the grinning icon, may go onto a BMW site and cause mayhem!

screw-ups happen - 245/40/17 is an odd size though. What's it on?

Also £90 each all in is an amazing price - the very best I've managed on 245/45/17 KU31's is £100 all in and they should be cheaper than 40 profile.Where are these bargain merchants?
