Are Taxi & Bus drivers still required to wear their PSV numbered badges.

Back in the 80s this was law to all psv drivers, so if the public was not happy with their attitude or driving, they could be reported and suspended until the outcome was resolved.

Also back then all this was regulated by the "Weights and Measurements" gov dep't who issued licences and regulated vehicles. So is this still the case ?

Not sure about bus drivers, but all black cab and private hire drivers should wear their ID badges while working. All the vehicles also need to display permits.

Local authorities are responsible for the issue of taxi and private hire licenses and yes a legal requirement to wear it on display (TFL, Local council , municipal authority, Borough Council.
PSV or PCV as it is now known is granted by regional areas throughout the country for both operator and driver licensing.

AFAIK when you pass your pcv test nowadays you do not get a badge anymore so cant wear one, i didnt get a badgs when i passed my pcv test in 1992
