My R170 SLK 2001 is fitted with the above unit and it has started to become temperamental. I'd like to source an identical good replacement in excellent condition, complete with code. I'm not keen on ebay. Does anyone know where I can source from please.
Many thanks in advance.

Have you tried comand.co.uk? They may have some units removed from vehicles they have upgraded.

Thanks Anthony. Not thought of that but i guess these units are quite old now ? If that's the case I guess they won't have any. I might call them though.
Don't suppose any member here has one for sale ?

What's wrong with buying carefully from eBay? You'll almost certainly find one on there, as well as the matching 6 disc CD changer for the glove box - it's where I bought the CD changer for my S203 (although I did not bother changing the Audio 10 casette radio for the CD radio!).

Is swapping it for a COMAND unit not an option? I’ve just swapped the audio 10 CD player for a COMAND 2.0 unit. A small wiring adaptor is all that was required.

Just a heads up. I picked up a very nice condition C class COMAND 2.0 unit on ebay for £100. It is 100% functional and even came with a Nav CD.
If you want Nav functionality then you'll also need an antenna which are <£10.

This site should provide all the info you'll need if you do it yourself - http://www.mercupgrades.com/COMAND+FAQ-faq-1.html#24
If you want someone to do it for you then the previously mentioned comand.co.uk are the experts.

Thanks for this Anthony. I think I'll be sticking with the Audio 10 though.

Thanks for the replies folks.
Ok I think I'll have to bite the bullet and get one off ebay. Just one further question now, are these units plug & play (with the code) or do they have to be matched to the vehicle via star ? I would think the former applies but I did see something somewhere that suggested star coding would be needed. Hope not.

If it needs Star pop down if you need to (Northampton-ish)

Thanks LK.
Very nice offer but hopefully won't be necessary.

They do not need coding. The COMAND unit only requires coding if you have the option for nav indicators on the instrument cluster.
