I used it from Plymouth to Glasgow at night, full beam all the way & never got flashed or blinded anyone. It must be the best new technology on cars for the last 20 years and still amazes me every time I go out at night.

I am fascinated by this gadget! Perhaps one day a car of mine will be modern enough to have it fitted ;)

Meanwhile, can anyone tell me how fast it will switch to main beam after an oncoming vehicle has passed, assuming there is nothing else nearby?

And perhaps more important will it react at all to me riding the other way on my bicycle if I have a fairly good front lamp on the bike? (As I always do)

It’s too slow for my liking and sometimes you need main beam below 30mph.

its ability to work out what to do is very good... with the exception of things like coming to a stop on an unlit road at a T junction, often the road sign knocks back the lights, you emerge from being on main beam (and a bit of reflection from the sign) as you stop to a completely pitch black road on dip beam... then WITHOUT being able to see a thing !!! are expected to accelerate to 40 (in the BMW I had) before it wakes up and lets you see the road... ****** dangerous, ****** stupid.... best turned off

I love mine ... it’s fun Driving up behind someone and you see your lights light around the car in front right up the sides but not blinding him in his mirror ...

Mine seems to work quick enough to not cause me or oncoming traffic any issues at all.

I cannot remember any oncoming vehicles flashing me and as said earlier it is impressive to see the lights illuminate ahead yet blanks out the car being followed.

On the odd occasion it will dip when light reflected back from road signs etc confuses the sensor.

Overall they are superb lights and should I change car it will most definitely be a must have option.

It’s taken me a while to get used to the blue high beam light staying on...

So the system errs towards not dazzling other road users :), and will not switch to main beam below 30MPH:confused:, presumably because in some countries it is illegal to use main beam in built up areas.

How long does it take to restore main beam after oncoming traffic has passed and there is nothing else coming along? I want main beam NOW in these circumstances!:geek:

I've only used it once but after a car had gone it was pretty instant. Very impressive to say the least. It was also superb to have it dip the beam at the car but keep the beam at the left hand side so I can still see the ditch and watch for deer etc in hedgerows

And below 30mph you can still use the manual beam of course..

on the cars I used it on (BMW and VAG) driving gently it comes back just OK

driving at 7 /10 th's its very dangerous. ...where a good driver should be able to do 8 / 10th's every day and never inconvenience another road user or ever have a moment.

drive at 10 / 10 th's and the ditch will get you all day long (even if your driving skills permit 11 / 10th's operation...)

Ok went over 30mph and it kicked in. It is still very impressive when you follow a car and it switches off the lights in the middle
