Only by undoing the drain plug, or by using a suction device now in favour.

Are you sure about not going into 1 and 2

hi,
thankyou for your reply the car that i have is the merc c180 97 model.
Im a little worried by your answer as i've already put it in the car and it is recommended by halfords, what i mean is they checked on their system and this is what came up as the best on recommended by mb.
How can i drain this, because there is a leakage and smoke from the car.
can you please reply asa you get this msg,im waiting for yor answer.

Your box should be the 722.6 box in 1997

722.600/601/604/605/606/607/608/609/611/614/616/617/618/629/634/639/660/661/662/664/665/666//661/662/664/665/689/695/699/996.

for new box 7.5 litres (+0.5)

MB 236.10 ATF A001 989 2303...MB 236.10 001 989 2103..........

Shell ATF 3403-M 115

The car must be jacked up and the drain plug removed, also the plug on the torque converter must be removed and drained.

When the correct fluid is put in, the level is critical and must correct with the engine running in park and hot

hi,

I can manage to put on a jack but how will i find the drain plug, and the torque converter,i dont even know where these are!!

Did i mention it was an 5 speed auto and the 1st and 2nd gears are stuck?
could this be anything to do with this?

I read somewhere mdels prior 1999 do not have drain plugs??
Is there any other way to sort this out without taking it to mb?

why is the car smoking and what is causing the leak?
can i check the level with out buying a dipstick?

I cant see how you can do this yourself, you will be better off going to an indie to do this, it is a fairly skilled job.

The other gearbox fitted was the 722.421

that uses

772.400/403/411/414/420/421/423/424/425/426/427/428/431/434/441/443.

From new 6.6 litres Change 5.5 litres. Fluid type

Shell Donax TA D-21666,21774.....Castrol TQD 22256....BP Autran MBX

Where in the UK are you
