Just had diagnostics done.
P1872 Signal from electronic selector lever module not plausible and
P1856 Selector lever position detection faulty.

Can anyone interpret in laypersons terms please

Thanks

Oh to live on south coast, one day I'll return south of Thames.

I hate replacing units and would always strip it down firse, there isn't much inside a gear selector unit.

Yours won't be exactly the same but will only be a switch and selector lever.

It would be worth checking for a bad connection onto the unit first.

Thanks for that

Unfortunately, am affected by ms,so anything intricate out of question, hence asking how long the job would take,so any garage don't try to turn me over.
Thanks for any advice

Hi

Just been quoted £314 for the part, and £120 for two hours labour.
Does that sound right?

Thanks

Hello Dieselman,
I'd love to know how you gained access to this switch, I have taken off the wooden cover and removed Security Torks and Allen screws but unable to take shroud off top of unint as there is a Tiebar across the unit which is welded in place, suggestions would be gratfully received, Bigrobfm

I gently prsed the Gear selector switch apart, be very very careful and do not take apart, I then flooded it with switch cleaner, This worked like magic and as a bonus I have a Display on the dashboard indicating which gear I have selected!
