Hi all,
I have a clk 230k Cabriolet, it does not get used very much & this weekend when I had chance to take it for a run around I could not select D, I looked at the Drivers manual and finished up Inserting a bar down the gearbox to select D. Can anyone tell me what the problem could be.
Thanks James

I don't know exactly where on the assembly but there is a solenoid that retracts to allow the lever to move when the key is in and the brake pedal is down. Sounds like yours is sticking.

HEY,
if its a w208 it is probably the brake light sensor. this is a coomon failure on this model im told. Press your brake pedal and see if your brake lights work. if they dont its the sensor under the dash on the brake pedal.

HI

It is probably brake light switch, even if the brake lights work OK it could still be the switch as there are two circuits via the switch its worth £ 7.50 to try

Hi Guys,

Tried the Brake pedal when i got home, brake lights worked ok Hmmmm,
Pumped the pedal a few times, this must have released the stuck switch as I managed to select Drive straight away.
Thanks for you info.
