On my last main dealer service on My 2018 C200D an A7 with 57,000 mile was told the gearbox oil was due to be changed at a cost of €800 is this normal?
What is the interval servicing of oil on the 7 speed auto gearbox?

The €800 euro quote sounds criminal to me , I would guess about £300 here .

Would be worth a trip over to England for an ATF change and still have money in your pocket.

I found a gargae here who can do the oil change for €360 plus vat.The ownger of the garge worked for MB for a number of years and only services mercedes Benz cars.

Based in ireland where the main dealer told me the Mercdes see themselves as a luxuary brand now hence the increase in prices on most models they no longer are a premium brand as they do not want to sell volume anymore and leave that to Audi and BMW.
i must say my expereience of owning a Mercedes has not been good as the cost of ownership is extremly hihg with lots of issues.

Gearbox oil €800
Sat Nav software upgrade €650
pollen filters €200
Cost of ownership is high.expect bigger bills once my 2018 car gets older.

Sounds like you'd really benefit from coming over to England and getting your servicing done here.
Even our main dealers aren't that expensive. Get a recommended Mercedes specialist and the costs can halve again in some cases.

Mercedes ownership is expensive, but the disappointing thing is the variation between good and poor dealers and how they deal with issues.

It’s been covered above about costs. The only way to run these considering the ludicrous faults they all have, is to ensure you have a mechanic, be that at the dealer or Indy who genuinely can find faults quickly and repair them without ongoing issues.

To answer your question the 7 speed auto needs a transmission service at 5 years or 77k miles whichever comes sooner - so yes it is due

Its not easy owning a good Mercedes car. Successfully keeping one on the road for years says a lot about the abilities and character of the owner - my opinion only probably.

I do what maintenance I can myself and hunt round for parts - its not been expensive.

As regards ATF, I bought a 25 Litre barrel for £50 last year on eBay.

I got an non main dealer to do the gearbox oil for €360 he only services Mercedes. he is less than half the price of the main dealer.
The labour rate in Ireland for main dealer is between €180 and €200 per hour.

The main dealer MSL I bought the car from are very poor only interested in ripping you off.

N.Ireland would be cheaper.Warranty on new cars in ireland is only 2 years where it is 3 years in the UK.
