The gearbox oil shows about 10mm below minimum when warm. Would this make a difference and is there a recommended oil? I am in Luton Bedfordshire

You dont get much for £500 with an auto gearbox these days, and his problem was quite serious

A diesel
At a guess it's the fibre governor drive gear in the tail of the gearbox. If the governor doesn't spin it doesn't allow any fluid through so the box never changes up.

aye i know , just couldnt resist the joke when he said 'what did they find?' as most garages always milk ya for cash , i hate using them and where possible do all the work myself.
