hello all

i was wondering if anyone out there can help me with some advice before i bring it in to be looked at by the repairman..

my c180 1994 pick up is very smoothly till last week. now the changing of 1,2 gear is very jerky.. i really mean very jerky.. also sometime the car just will not change gear, it will change when the RPM reaches 3000++ or when i release the acelerator.. (btw, the engine is very warmed up)..

This 1994 does not allow a tranmission reset as mention in other posts, will a tranmission oil change help ? any suggestion will be helpful...

Check the gear box level and look for leaks around the box.
Chnging the fluid and filter should be considered if the car has covered any great milage since it was last changed. Do not over fill it else expensive damage may occur.

The fault codes need to be read. The most common fault is a dodgy speed sensor.

My 1994 C180 developed ( among other problems ) rough / jerky gear shifts. Vacuum pipe ( white )came loose. Location : under where the HT leads enter engine top plate.

Hello and welcome, your car falls in the years when the second gear hold to warm the CAT as quickly as possible was possibly too aggressive. If OK when warm then it could be OK, saying this if the gear box fluid has never been changed then with new fluid and filter it could be much better with smoother changes all round
