It wasn't MB who replaced the springs, I just used the paperwork they sent me. I passed the number to an indie, he got the springs next morning, and it was only after we got the broken one out, we realised it's the wrong ones been supplied. I had my suspicion, as I calculated the 'points' and arrived at '1 dot' p/n, but I though I should trust an official Daimler workshop printout.

I think it's pretty stupid, to have six different options for the spring, when one does a search with an exact VIN - surely there should only be one p/n for a specific chassis number!

Would have attended if I could, but I will be in France.

I'm coming down the M5 to Plymouth on Thursday. Can I call in for coffee?

    Hi everyone,

I am really to have to announce this but I am going to have to cancel the GTG this weekend at my place.

My wife and I were expecting our first child on May 22 however it decided to arrive very early, on saturday to be precise.

We knew prior to this our child had some complications, and it being born prematurely has also added to the existing issues. He is currently in Neonatal Intensive Care in the best hospital in Bristol and has had his first op today.

As you can imagine, I have so much caring to do for my wife and child at this time that I cannot possibly think about arranging and running a GTG and I want the rest of the team to concentrate on running the business for the foreseeable future until I am able to return to work.

I know some of you were planning to travel a long way and had hotels booked etc, and I really hope this gives you enough time to sort all of those plans out and obtain refunds etc.

Again I am really sorry for the short notice of this but this is the first chance I have had to come online and do it. I also only remembered about 9pm this evening when I was driving home!!

Perhaps all the members here that have each others contact details could direct every one to this thread to explain.

I will rearrange another GTG in a few months time, hopefully when the little guy is much better, home with us and able to come along too!!

    Regards

    Steve

    No problems Steve and congratulations.
I know how worrying it can be with a child in hospital. My second son was born weighing 2lb 5oz due to pregnancy complications and spend 3 months in the Special Care Baby unit. Athol was so unusual the hospitsl in Southampton had never heard of a case like his. Effectively he was a failed miscarriage and starved in the womb, something not picked up by our GP. He's now a healthy active 19 year old.

Fingers crossed for your little one and hope your wife is well and coping too.

Congrats and there's absolutely nothing to apologise for - take care of your family, and we'll see you in a few months time!

Steve, please take comfort that premature babies do well. I'm a twin, we were 10 weeks early, weighing 2lb3 and 3lb2 in 1959. Christened at birth as not expected to live the night. We were shipped to a specialist hospital in Swindon from Winchester, before motorways and dual carriageways. Brother spent 6 months there. I was out in 3. I'm not a little fella anymore at 6'3.

Little un will be fine. Is he in the BRI?

Look after your family, car meets are way down the list.

Fully understandable Steve and I hope all goes well with the new child. Dave and I have decided to still head towards the area given the suggestion of good weather and the lure of the sea side and ice cream so if anyone wants to meet up and can suggest a location.....!

East Bay just round the corner from Weston Super Mud, then pootle along the prom at WSM, either in cars or on foot. Twopenny waterfall machines in the pier arcade (£1 lasts hours), ice cream, chish & fips, donkey ride on the beach. Walk on water https://www.google.com/maps/@51.353...4!1sG549WwXlDCJ2R-oOB3YDPg!2e0!7i13312!8i6656 at the Marine Lake. Lots to do.

Steve, sorry to hear things are not perfect, but I am sure they will be right soon.
I work near the BRI, St Michaels so if your child is there and you need a lift (I know how difficult parking can be) just ask.
    Pm me for my number.

Thanks Jason, that’s a very kind offer. He is in St Micheals NICU.

Because SM cover the whole of the South West from Gloucester to Cornwall and South Wales we don’t qualify to stay in the resident house as we live 15 miles from the hospital.

However they have given us parking tickets so we don’t need to pay or worry about where to park. Very helpful.

He had his first operation on Monday and although he had a difficult day yesterday he got through it.

    Steve,
St Michaels are great, they looked after my eldest when she was first born. You are in good hands.

Helo Steve, hope all goes well. I also had a worrying moment with one of mine thirty years ago but all went well.

Hope everything is going OK Steve and all is well with the family.

I'm setting off for this ex-meeting in a few minutes as a couple of us had booked a hotel anyway. Yes, we could have cancelled it at no cost to ourselves but decided that we were going anyway as it's a nice forecast (today at least) and I've not been on the SW coast for years so an ice cream and a paddle in the sea is beckoning. :)
