Good afternoon all,

could someone please tell me the best place to leave a 215 on axle stands, to allow me to remove a front wheel and take the weight off the strut?

Pic would be even better as I'm a bit thick where it comes to descriptions ;)

I put them underneath the suspension arm where its bolted to the chassis.

If you can jack the car up from the jack pad at the front, then you can put them in the sill area just underneath the factory jacking hole.

Is there not rubber bungs immediately below the jacking holes in the sills.

Thanks Alex/ Malcolm, you guys are like the faithful CL responders! :D

Just to check, it should be safe to jack up the car, remove the wheels and leave it sat on the axle stands under the sills or the chassis mounting points..?

I'm going to do a fluid flush this weekend (assuming my Pentosin has been delivered) and if that doesn't work, attempt a valve block rebuild. I've found a link to the correct sized O-rings (including the square ones) but I'd like to ensure that there's no weight on the struts when I start disconnecting hydraulic lines.

Do take care, the axle stands with the round cups are the best, if you have a trolley jack, do use that under one corner so 2 stands and trolley jack. Do not do this on a slope.

The ones I've just bought (Amazon is doing a roaring trade out of me on this ****** car, I tell you!) are of the C-type not the cup type. They're the only 3 ton rated stands that I could find though- I'm a believer in redundancy when it comes to 2 ton of German engineering perched over my swede.

Car is at the top of the drive so no slope. I plan on leaving it there until I've got everything done that I can get done.

You should be ok with those, mine are the same, just make sure they are located securely.

I tend to put removed wheels under the car as well.

That is a brilliant idea Alex, I had my 230 on the ground after standing on axle stands with no wheels on after 2 weeks.:-? not easy to get up again.
