Hi all
had a bas/esp fault like a lot of others come up on my dash.
Had my local merc specialist do a diagnostic test and he cleared down all fault codes, the bas/esp fault has now been cleared, anyone else with this problem give it a try it has worked for me
best of luck

glad your sorted, but I cant see how a star diag reset will have solved your underlying BAS problem. If you had a problem before, then I am afraid you still have it.

Hi
i will let you know if the fault re-appears but up till now its ok,
i had a similar fault on a volvo, same procedure with clearing the fault codes and this also worked, no answer as to why it should.
Best regards to all

When I bought my car it had 38 fault codes but showed no malfunctions, they have never come back, only things that have failed since, they are plenty full but that is another story

Hi, I had the same problem today. After about 40 miles and for no apparent reason the bas/esp light on my R170 SLK 320 came on. The car still drove perfectly and kickdown worked but the cruise control did not function. I have read on the forum that replacing the brake switch is a possible option. Is this still the case even with the cruise control not working.
Needless to say when I turned the engine off and restarted everything inc. the cruise control worked ok and I drove 40 miles home without a problem.

I did have this problem last time I drove the car more than 30 miles or so. The difference then was I did not check the cruise control so do not know if it was exactly the same. After this episode I had the car checked, not on star, but no codes shown.

Any advice greatly appreciated. regards pjtynan
