Hi All,

For a few weeks now i have been getting the following error:

'Stop Vehicle' Shift to P Leave engine running'

but the drive is fine and not causing me any issues at the moment. Car starts up fine too.

So today i had it booked in at the local specialist and he suggested that the battery will need replacing due to the 'high resistance' in the battery. Quoted: £290 WTF!!!

But i enquired at Halfords and they can replace it for £167 (Halfords battery) including fitting.

What has me confused/worried is, when i went to the Halfords garage to ask for a quote, the bloke mentioned that replacing the battery doesn't always resolve the error i'm getting.

Not sure if i go ahead and get the battery replaced by them? What do you guys suggest?

Have you experienced a similar issue and how did you resolve it?

Many Thanks

Put a meter on the battery check the battery engine voltage off & on. If you have a charger put it on charge overnight, see if the fault code disappears?
If you need a new battery try these www.tayna.co.uk
I & several others have used them great service & price, I paid £76 for a SLK200K battery.

Just checked its £154.99 for the battery. A little more expensive than Halfords.

There's a good chance your battery is starting fail. If its over about 4 years old I would change in anyway.
Aldi do a charger conditioner for about £15, worth buying one.

The stop/start batteries are more expensive. As the Halfords has a 5 year guarantee & they will fit it for you I would go with them.
But if you can try the Aldi charger/conditioner first.
