I’ve got a CTEK too. MX5.0 for me. Had it about 4yrs now. Did have an issue were one started hissing whilst charging. Even though it was 14mths old Amazon still replaced it for me FoC. The current one has been fine.

Thanks to everyone for your comments. I bought an Aldi charger of £13.99 and it worked a treat. Got home after 8 wks and the car started first time. At the price I would recommend to anyone when in stock.

Lots of good things said about them.
... probably batch made by CTEK lol :)

Some bad comments too about longevity.
One drawback to them is they don't keep the last mode setting after a power cut and by all accounts turn off.
Not a problem if you can check and reset it but a huge problem if it's 500 miles away like mine is!
I bought a pair of cheap (£25 or less - can't remember) one from Amazon and these do remember the last state and return to it (as does a CTEK).

Yeah that “last mode” failure would be a huge problem here, as we seem to get an awful lot of tiny, very short circa 40 sec to 1 minute power cuts. So of it blew out on the first day of your holiday ... you would come back to find it off and maybee hadnt charged the battery for 3 weeks . :(
Pretty certain my CTEK does start the cycle again, as soon as power is restored.

If your car is local to you then it doesn't matter.
If your car is remote (as my 129 is being 500 miles away) then a charger that carries on where it left off after a power cut is a must.
Malcolm used a basic AGM charger for his cars.

Lidl are advertising the £14 ones from Thursday this week for those interested.
I have used one for a few years without a problem. They do return to "just on" after a power cut though.
