Hi folks i have a 2015 E350 coupe and the lights are appaling on a night although they look like zenons (bright white) can they be adjusted/ replaced for Hids, They self level so i guess they cannot be adjusted? they do not show the road ahead properly until i put full beam on, what can i do to get them brighter or can i raise the level of beam higher. Thanks in advance.

Xenon's are HiD though some manufacturers of bulbs cloud the issue somewhat.
If you have halogen bulbs (which it sounds like you don't) you cannot legally fit aftermarket HiDs unless you replace the entire headlight unit.
If you already have HiDs (which it sounds like you do) then replace the bulbs with Osram Nightbreakers.
First though make sure the lenses are clear and not scratched/yellowed/crazed/milky.

Do you have ILS (intelligent light system). If so, you may not have it set up correctly?

The Osram HiD lamps du jour are their Xenarc range. Night breakers are halogen only.

Get someone to check what lights you have, If you have Xenon you may have the lesser 4000 bulbs .you can upgrade to 6000 but you do need someone who knows about lighting.. The bulbs are £50 to £100 each. the bulbs can be retrofitted and dont need coding. Some people fit the lesser 4000 as they are cheaper but they are shiiite ..at night.
Nightbreakers will only fit if you have halogens as craig has said... . Bulbs have to be fitted from under the wheelarch, best with wheel off.
Just need to say that you need also to check that your bulbs have been fitted properly. Newer cars have little fiddle room to fit bulbs and many ppl dont fit them correctly ... A big concern as the beam is scattered.

.

Or turn the steering until the wheel is as far into the arch as possible - saves taking it off.

This does work. And be careful to use penetrating fluid on the wheelhouse plastic nuts, especially the one at the top centre, it likes to bind on and will happily rip the stud off the fender metal if it's not patiently released.

On a 2015 E350 Coupé you should have LED headlamps. Mine self level and are a very "white" light, but not that "brilliant'. They don't light up the road that far ahead and could certainly benefit from adjusting a little higher, but the adjusters don't seem to make any difference.

You don't adjust them, they're self-levelling.

They are self leveling...but, surely, they have to be set up correctly in the first place.
Engine on, the light beams should do a little dance..? That’s their setup. The ECU needs to know car angle relative to ground (eg tilted due to trunk load) and ground angle relative to flat. So, an absolute level sensor and a front & rear suspension height sensor setup. If one of those is out, or has been changed and the system not recalibrated then the ECU will default to shortest beam setting.

Do self leveling headlights re-level whilst driving?

Yes, they're levelling to keep the car level to its suspension, not to the ground.

If you want level to the ground, you get ABC ;)

Exactly. HIDs on my last car obviously self levelled but there was the option to mechanically set the datum about which they self levelled.
