Got an MOT fail today for both Bi-xenon headlights aiming too low.
Checked if they "self levelled" when turning on and they don't.

Checked the (adjustable) airmatic level sensors and they are working fine and not broken and I have a Star diagnosis booked for tomorrow morning at Startech, my nearest indy.

Am I correct in thinking that Star can show if the headlight motor range sensor(s) are faulty? And if not, can Star recalibrate the correct level again?

I have read the thread "Adjusting headlights for Europe" and it appears the answer to my last question is yes

Hmm I remember years ago one of my berms was lower for a random reason, I adjusted it best I could against a wall and the self level did keep working till I could have it reset at the next service so I think you should be fine Rodger

How do you physically adjust a bi xenon light Matty? I thought it was all done on a motor controlled by a sensor?

Still the adjustment screws in the light housing Rodger, unless I'm going totally mad and it wasn't on the 211 I did this?!? Hmm made me think now

Yes there are usually adjustment screws exactly as there are in normal headlights with height adjuster on the dash.

Had the Star check done this morning and there are no faults. The headlamps were readjusted and zero point settings carried out. Fortunately nothing more serious than a reset when I had visions of sensors and motors being replaced.

^ It is John. The tech told me they have had a few bi xenon headlights needing adjustment since our roads are getting worse. The potholes mess up the sensor readings.

Turn up for the books there Rodger, make a nice change compared to the exhaust problems you had the star of the year

Yes I got away lightly this time. That exhaust nonsense ended up costing me over £500 for two bits of welding and a lot of labour.
