Very neat I’m becoming a fan of BMW engineering, any steering torque from the front axle?

View attachment 47683 View attachment 47684 Just to remind everyone (including me!)

Very futuristic looking. Gorgeous blue colour. Unsure of the black rear bits, almost as if those are standard parts in any colour as long as its black. Have seen the i8 in black in Germany.

How do you charge it?

Certainly the future for a second car, thinking for wifey for her 10 mile commute.

You could have taken the Xmas decs down!!! :p

Nice write up John. That really is a fine looking car both inside and out.
I followed an I3 this morning. One of the most ugly cars to ever grace the planet IMO.
The I8 however...........congrats:D

Thanks Keith
I actually like the accents- they break up the colour a bit..
Oh the xmasdecs....thats a photo from December and also to answer the charging q, a new photo today would show a tethered pod point(£279 after £500 government grant) attached to the wall. You can also use a 3 pin plug if you don’t want the Pod-Point and are in no charging hurry.
Another benefit is you can heat or cool the car against a timer via an app, so the car’s conditioned for you before set off time.
Great for your wifes 10 mile commute- just the same as mine!
When I get it back I’ll photo the charging set up for you....
Just try not to criticise my drive

Thank you Roger- I’m with you on the i3 sadly. Might be OK inside though?

Yep....
Lift the carpet, twiddle the zust fastener, lift out the pressed steel cover and marvel at how it's still impossibile to access anything. :)
Indeed almost the same- think I’ll just leave it alone!

I bet you are saving a few quid in fuel bills compared to the new electrical costs ? ( I was going to ask more but I'm worried about the Blobcat word Police :D)

Thanks John - I’ll look forward to the next update.

Incidentally, on a short drive to the shops this afternoon, I saw an i8 and two i3s. Rarely see either and then, just like buses..... but the i8 really did look rather good ;)

I followed an i3 this morning driving South back to Wirral from Leuchars.
The driver kept changing lanes without signalling his intentions (a BMW trait I know), but his guy was of a mature age and I reckon that he was trying not to use up his energy supply!!

That was part of my wife sell.. the Panzer was £200-£300 a month on fuel- so far I’ve used £0 over 170 miles on fuel and £2 on electricity at home ( some at work which doesn’t count!)
Ok I’m still in the ‘honeymoon ‘ period where it is a novelty to use very little juice but even so...
That and £0 road tax vs £540 what’s not to like?
Oh and the dealer put half tank of petrol in when I picked it up and that’s untouched !

Yes John. Son in law is a commissioned officer and I was approaching the Edinburgh City Bypass when the idiot performed as many BMW drivers do.
I took the opportunity whilst up there last week to receive a lesson from the Teaching Pro at Carnoustie.

I’d forgotten how hard the suspension was and how much it stops when you take your foot off the “gas”...
Still it goes very well, although it was only showing 50 mile range when I picked it up. I’ll charge it tomorrow and see what it says then.
