Not every year since we've had one, no...

Well, not if a couple of parties get into power. Then we'll have to talk at the enemy.
We could get Diane Abbot to give them a lecture on mathematics and they'll all laugh themselves to death...
One could call her a Weapon of Maths Destruction.....

doesn't the statement of 11k of foreign prisoners contradict statements made early in this (or similar thread) debate?

13% total immigrant population with an 11% criminal immigrant population, if memory serves?
So of 85k prison population we might expect 9.5k to be immigrant criminals, of which only a portion would be eu immigrants.

More important and worrying (and not providing any pleasure Triumphstag) here's the latest true version of a Project Fear item:

http://uk.reuters.com/article/uk-eu-markets-regulations-idUKKCN18D2BA7
Exclusive - EU looks to build alternative to London for capital market: document

Did any Brexquitter seriously think the EU would stand by when they have an opportunity to take away what took many years to be built in UK?

Except it will do. The folks doing the negotiating are civil servants on £50-60k who very much want to be senior civil servants on £150-160k and retiring on final salary pension to take up a board position on the FTSE. Doing a bad job of it won't help their prospects, will it?

Why ?

-If they do something immensely successful it gets publicized... if it's a failure or useless it just gets buried in the minutes.
- Just like their "masters" methodology!

And unless they get caught with their fingers in the till or something (unlike bankers who can get away with it) they will eventually as you say, end up on £150-160k pa and retire on final salary pension to take up a board position on the FTSE.

Cynical? Moi?
No... old in the tooth!

Iike others, I didn't realise there was that many. Thought the total prison pop was about 85,000? ( could be wrong on that ). Seems a reasonable request though to send them back to finish their sentences in their homelands.

These are however the only EU nationals I would advocate sending back.

Wonder what the reverse population is (Brits in foreign jails)

Actually we had 10,500 foreigners in British jails last year, nearly half of which – 4,600 – are citizens of other EU countries.

The EU has cost this country thousands and thousands of jobs and Billions of pounds as it went about its redistributive way trying to create an EU superstate.

How did you get to the parallel universe without the EU to see how it would have been if we hadnt joined?

Quite arguable that this country wouldn't be anywhere near as prosperous without the initial membership of the EEC. It's also quite arguable that the inverse is true- the EEC and later EU has benefitted significantly from the UKs membership too. Remember, trade agreements are most often mutually beneficial...

Thing is, no one knows how the UK would have done without EEC membership. One thing is likely though, the 80s would've been a LOT more unpleasant.

Almost 11 months has passed since the vote to leave the EU.

294 pages of posts and having read the last 3 pages after an absence of doing so it seems nothing has changed.

A wordle would probably indicate that this thread had the vocabulary of a 4 year old with repetitive word syndrome! The only word missing would be circuitous :)

The £ has pretty much bounced back against the € and is holding itself well against the $

The sky still hasn't fallen in, the economy hasn't tanked, 100,000 bankers have not left, and not one of the predictions made by project fear has materialised. Not one.

Both of its chief architects have slunk off with their tails between their legs, their political careers in tatters, liars the pair of them. Any sense of shame for misleading the population**? Not a bit of it.

Osbourne for BlackRock and the Standard (ha!), Cameron for anyone who'll let him trouser tens of thousands of pounds for telling them how good he was as prime minister (ha!) on the lucrative lecture circuit. This is despite coming back from the EU with a deal which (as we know now but only some of us knew then) was completely worthless.

And we haven't left yet. Once we have left even more will have not happened.

Continued on page 896!

**how does remain feel about being so easily misled by a pair of shysters?

Did you go to maths classes with Diane Abbot? The £ is still around 15 - 20% down on both the € and the $ compared to pre referendum.

And let's not forget we are still part of the EU.

I wish that was true - the pound has spiked up now and then but it certainly hasn't recovered. But our costs are going UP.
Thankfully, fuel prices are better atm (Diesel is 1.139 round my area) but that still 14% more than the days before the Brexit vote (it was under £1 and had been steady/falling for about two years).

Inflation tightens screw on UK consumers as election nears
http://uk.reuters.com/article/uk-britain-economy-idUKKCN18C0QG (Tue May 16, 2017 | 3:34pm BST)

- Inflation hit its highest level since September 2013 last month...
- Consumer prices rose by an annual 2.7 percent, data showed...
- Last week, BoE Mark Carney warned inflation in 2017 is almost certain to overtake wage growth.

Why let facts stand in the way of a good argument? ;)

Went to test drive a BMW 530 M Sport the other day.

Lovely German car.

Put the key in the ignition, turned it, nothing.

Foot on the brake, turned the key again, nothing.

Called the salesman over, explained the situation.

Salesman said it's a manual, sir, (I hadn't noticed - who'd spec a 530 with a manual?)

You have to depress the clutch to start it (who knew)

So I said, we voted leave, you lost, get over it!

Clutch depressed itself!

And all because of the Bluddy EU and all of their rules and regulations, the sooner we are out the better...Oh wait the German and french and Italian cars will still have all of these standard safety items... and the ones we make will have to have them as well if we want to sell them back into the EU. So in effect nothing changes in that regard.

Would you please do that to the pound next?
- And while you're at it walk round the supermarkets and do the same to rising prices and smaller packages!
