And you just demonstrated exactly what I said about the way you talk from behind a keyboard as opposed how youd talk face to face. Well done.

I should give it up now Alistair, thanks. When the truth is staring out from every part of the web that my country is serious trouble caused by the referendum vote and those who engineered it (and anyone can see it's getting worse - even those who disagree cannot possible be satisfied with what our government and negotiators have been doing), I'm lied about (see above) and virtually told I should whistle and sing "Be happy" hah hah.

Sorry chaps, I shall keep reminding you Brexquitters of the effects of what you've done. If you have a big success you can remind me (and the stupid thing is that because I care about it, I would actually like you to be able to do that)!

Well, I think Dave is a big boy and it seems fine for him and others to throw personal insults around - "hard of thinking" for example. But apparently it is not OK when it comes back the other way.

As for facts, unfortunately most of what he posts is opinions and speculation, so yes, I agree - guff.
putting
As for opinions, yes, Dave is entitled to them as we all are, however if you post them on an internet forum, expect them to be challenged and criticised.

And as for knuckle sandwiches - grow up.

Sad and lonely people are the ones that sit there finding fault with everything. Happy productive and popular ones are the ones who look for the best in every situation and look to make the most of it.

I post on here when I have a spare five mins (hence the reason I am not always replying) unlike some who's life seems to resolve around posting negativity on the internet with those of a similar mindset. I would consider that quite sad and lonely.

So as you're so busy, you should thank me for putting truthful facts in front of you (usually with the web link so you can check it for yourself) although you'd rather just send a personal insult to me!

Oh, what wit

Oh, what wit!
- Yeah... what wit?

- Who's being personally offensive now then?

Sorry, the joke was too good to pass up.

If you could post something about it verging on the offensive that would be even better.

In your opinion. Many of those you call 'short thinkers' in your disparaging way may well be thinking further than you realise but unless you are in their mind you would never know that. How can you say how far someone is thinking ahead? To suggest you can is simple arrogance.

Again and again you defeat your own arguments to look for negatives,

I wrote;
"Short thinkers is an entirely reasonable descriptive phrase for people who cannot look beyond their current concerns for positives"

I was obviously about state of mind you have an inability to think positively about an outcome you didn't want.
Your cohorts in the pursuit of negatives are the same.
I shall remain positive and upbeat about our countries future and look for opportunities,
you will look for rain I and others will look for the rainbow.

c'est la vie

I don't look for rain. I look for sun but can't see it on the forecast for the UK...just lots of dark clouds gathering. I'm therefore looking for a raincoat and shelter to ensure I remain dry whilst you're getting soaked chasing rainbows.

It's nice to see some positive movement (finally) - UK growth was higher than expected (after forecasts had reduced growth expectations twice)!
The £ has also seen a slight resurgence - both events being somewhat of a black outlook for anyone with personal debt as it allows the BoE to increase interest rates in an attempt to tackle inflation (which is at a higher figure than a long time). Retail sales currently are reducing which will reduce the government tax take from VAT receipts. The UK economy is heavily reliant on retail sales after all.
Exports have not increased as expected given the weak pound so there's little for the government to gain from that either.
Our economy is not growing as fast as our neighbours in the EU (who will soon be our competitors). And just to finish it all off Mrs Mayhem is again looking at a No Deal scenario meaning we would exit the EU not just with no trade agreements with the EU but also no trade agreements with the rest of the world.
Now you'll probably again say that's short thinking on my part (in your usual sneering condescending way) but please enlighten me and my fellow worriers just how this is a 'good' thing?

I welcome your fact filled logical and reasoned reply.

Incidentally your linked article is three months old and has already failed in its forecast...

You wonder why you get such disparaging comments to your posts ?

You mention the EU economy is "growing" faster than ours yet I have already given you 60 billion reasons why, but the classic has to be the bracketed "who will soon be our competitors"
I have it appears news for you, they already are and always have been.

Then you go on to mention Ms May and cabinet looking at no deal scenario's, are you just trolling or do you seriously believe our government should not prepare for no deal.

Even worse if the only deal we can get is a damaging one do you think we should just accept it ?

I genuinely shake my head in disbelief.

High on opinion, devoid of reasoned arguments, light on actual fact with a dash of hyperbole and finished with another disparaging comment. True to form since even before the referendum.

I gave you 60 billion you chose to ignore the fact.
At 7025 you wrote "I look for sun but can't see it on the forecast for the UK"
At 7027 you wrote "It's nice to see some positive movement (finally) - UK growth was higher than expected (after forecasts had reduced growth expectations twice)!

At 7024 I wrote "Again and again you defeat your own arguments to look for negatives"

So having clearly failed you now you go for the ad hominem.

So you have arguments, your own, you have facts you ignore them.

I will continue to be upbeat about the Uk and its future you will seek anything out to run us down.

Hyperbole.

True. I don't see sun on the UK forecast. I see a slight lightening of the grey but thats all.
At 7027 you wrote "It's nice to see some positive movement (finally) - UK growth was higher than expected (after forecasts had reduced growth expectations twice)!
This is fact. You have a problem with facts?
At 7024 I wrote "Again and again you defeat your own arguments to look for negatives"
Nope. The simple facts were that the growth forecast was twice reduced. Now we have better than forecast growth. That is positive in as much as the growth was not as bad as the last revision but it is still down on the original forecasts.
So having clearly failed you now you go for the ad hominem.

Pot, kettle, black.....

I hope you find your pot of gold at the end of the rainbow you seek (a good fairy tale is always nice to read to the grandkids). I''ll be more realistic and realise that rainbow means a rainstorm is coming and take shelter.

Put simply, I don't have to go looking for 'bad news' - its everywhere int he press and equally visible to anyone who see's what is happening. Dave reports headlines for Reuters - one of the most trustworthy new sources on the planet. He doesn't make them up. You can choose to ignore them but it doesn't make them go away.

hyperbole
hʌɪˈpəːbəli/
noun
  1. exaggerated statements or claims not meant to be taken literally.
"he vowed revenge with oaths and hyperboles"
    synonyms: exaggeration, overstatement, magnification, amplification, embroidery, embellishment, overplaying, excess, overkill;
Your Point one, 60 billion euros per month quantitative easing is propping up the EU economy, fact not hyperbole.

https://www.theguardian.com/busines...as-it-plans-to-scale-back-quantitative-easing.

You think the EU goes to being a competitor when we leave the EU.

Clearly you don't understand the issues but you still persist in looking for problems because you and your fellow remoaners lost the argument.

Frontstep you complain about someone going ad hominem yet you disparage every post made by a member not agreeing with your viewpoint...why?

Can't this be a civil discussion? It's not as if this thread will change anything.

The main lets put it politely contributor to this thread does not understand the fundamentals yet constantly seeks to undermine the UK and its future.
Why should I or anyone else for that matter support them when they try to run the country down from a position of ignorance ?

That's your opinion. This is a political sub section so we are all free to have our opinions. You try to stifle others opinion by brow beating and disparaging.

No one is trying to run the country down, but, as I have said before, many are worried about the future. Being so bullish about the future doesn't make you right, but it does make you a little boring.

Perhaps it's time to stop this experiment with politics on a car forum.

Quite right. You dont seem to understand it at all. Every time someone raises a concern your response is some platitude about how wonderful things will be in future rather than a constructive explanation of why you believe that.
Then when you don't like what is said you attack the person concerned instead of answering the points raised (just as you did with the post quoted) and then you go on to say others resort to ad hominem. On the rare occasions you do respond to points raised its done in a deeply condescending and sneering manner.
As Naraic says it's all really rather boring.

Little Britain? Listen to yourselves.
NO ONE wants to build an empire. NO ONE.

All we want to do is leave a political organisation that we don't agree with or believe in.

If you want to believe the guff you spout about "Brexiteers" then it really is you with the problem.

But then you think Corbyn is a suitable choice for PM so your judgement is questionable.

So please enlighten us about the Tsunami that is coming.

Oh, and I would LOVE to hear the real reasons for Brexit that only you seem to know. This should be really good.

If it was only that simple. We do not merely want to leave a political organisation, we are leaving an economic one too
