Hi, could anyone tell me if a 96 C180 estate would have the facility of factory "built in" wiring through to the boot area to enable a CD changer to be fitted or would the relevant fibre optic and power cables need to be obtained and fitted, thanks in advance.

Hi,
I presume your head unit is a Sony or other make.
Pre facelift C's (pre'99?) had dealer fitted radios not factory ones, (MB audio 10 in post '99 cars) so the basic answer is no. Its a very easy job if you just pop the car down to your local car hi fi shop. Chances are that it will be cheaper to replace the head unit at the same time, but they will be able to give you the price for a changer for your head unit too.
Wiring is simple but will be specific to your head unit I suspect so you will need the appropriate loom for the unit you choose.
