M271 is the 4 cylinder engine family your car is fitted with.
Sadly it has a reputation for stretched timing chains made from old knicker elastic and cam sprockets made from Brie.

2 MB specialists have said that it isn't the timing chaina and nothing has been done to it.
And now it's running fine.
I'm not sure what it was.
And whats the M271? No idea what you're talking about.

M271 is the engine designation, google it and you’ll be sure to see the tales of timing chains but if it’s all ok you’ve dodged a bullet! Hope it goes OK

I've had my M271 for 3 years and it's never missed a beat. I love this car. After all I've read I just keep an ear out when I start her in the morning for any sign of chain stretch, and change the oil every 5000 miles. Fingers crossed I don't have a duff one and I haven't jinxed myself again. I'm sure lots of them are OK. Good luck.

Indeed if they were all faulty Mercedes would be out of business. Then again I'm in the same boat as you hoping it doesn't spring a leak!
