Most of the injector problems were covered on an MB recall, iirc

You might want to get them to check.

I wonder if you have a proven track of service history would they do that free of charge. They should as they did not carried out a recall replacement of injectors. Am I right?

I know it’s a bit far fetched, but do you know if the car has been remapped at some point? The 250 does not respond well generally and can cause low fuel pressure.

Just a thought though.

Thanks for all the replies.

Ok, so after looking on the various sites for information. It mentioned how to check if the injectors were replaced by MB during the recall. From what I can see they have been.

The ECU is a 'Delphi Solenoid' which if i understand correctly means the injectors etc were replaced.

The light actually went off about 3 days after I posted it came on. Since then it has stayed off and the car has been driving superb. Best it's ever been since I have owned it.

I do have the full service history paperwork so I will check through that again.

As for remapping, I have no idea if it has or not.

So the EML is back on and has been on and off continuously with no real for the last 3-4 weeks. 'Low fuel pressure in the system'.

However it is intermittent, light comes on, car goes into limp mode. Start it the next day, light is off.

I ordered and fitted a genuine fuel filter, light stayed away for approximately 1 week then came back. Following day, light goes off, car drives lovely. Few days later, light back on etc etc.

As it is so intermittent i thought maybe the Fuel Rail Pressure sensor is faulty and causing the issue, ordered a new sensor, fitted today, now the car will not start at all. Turns over constantly but never starts.

Have i made a terrible mistake by replacing the sensor? Or could it be coincidence? I have put the old sensor straight back on and the car still won't start.

Looks like you've got air into the system. Try bleeding it.

Make sure any fault codes have been cleared, then prime the fuel system, it should start.

Oldspanners, Westheath thanks for your help! Got it started this morning, need to send back the FRPS as the little locking tab is broken off. Wasn't brand new but from online breakers.

In your opinion is it worth getting another one to try based on my experiences with this 'Low Pressure' codes or just take it into MB again?

At the moment all we are doing is guessing based on what happens. The fuel pressure will certainly cause your problem. Again guessing, a small air leak perhaps an O ring "somewhere" in the fuel system that either sucks air in gradually over a few days or suddenly under a big load.

Update : Took the car to a recommended independent Mercedes Specialist. He has the Mercedes Xentry system. He has ran the diagnostics which picked up the below faults (See Attachments):

P040000 'Flow rate of the Exhaust Gas Recirculation Positioner (High Pressure) has a malfunction'.

P008700 The Fuel Pressure in the system is too low - (This is the issue I have been having from the beginning and why it was taken in as can be seen from my previous posts).

He first recommended that the 'Boost Pressure Sensor' is replaced which is near the EGR Valve itself apparently. This was done £140 - Within 2 days light was back on Code showing :

P008700 The Fuel Pressure in the system is too low

Then he recommended the EGR Valve is replaced. Coolant drained and replaced, throttle body cleaned etc etc : £820

This has all now been done, picked the car up on Saturday and within 10 miles the EML light is back on, showing the same fault:

P008700 The Fuel Pressure in the system is too low

When he mentioned replacing the EGR Valve I did ask if this would resolve the P008700 issue to which he said it would.

When he called me to say the car is fixed and ready for pickup, he said a new error code had appeared:

P008700 The Fuel Pressure in the system is too low and said this is a new issue. However I can clearly see this issue listed on the diagnostics he printer off for me nearly 3 weeks ago.

So I am now another £820 down and still in the same position as I was.

I have purchased a Autel MD808 Pro handheld diagnostics tool, whilst its not the Mercedes star, it can read the basic codes such as : P008700 which is still currently showing as the main fault.

I have added the diagnostics sheet to see if anyone can shed any light on what to do next.

Thanks for any advice you can offer on this. I really do not know what to do next other than sell it to webuyanycar or something similar.

I said I am concerned that the Fuel Pressure issue could be related to the High Pressure Fuel Pump which I have heard can cost approximately £2k to replace. He said he thought the EGR valve and Sensor would fix both issues. He also said he would do a fuel pressure test and a smoke test, which I have no idea if these were done.

I have not spoken to him since i picked it up Saturday, I have left a message but i do need to call him back again. I have not paid for the EGR Valve replacement as yet either.

Update : I Just called him and basically he is saying the he thought the EGR Valve would fix the low pressure issue as well as the EGR issue. He has now said to take it back over and leave it with him so he can perform a leak off test of the injectors and a fuel pressure test of the system

My argument was (And i'm no mechanic so if i'm off track here just say) if there is a test for the fuel pressure issue and one for the injectors, why was the EGR valve replaced prior to these tests being run?

Update. So took it in for the leak off test. Injector 2 and 3 were classed faulty. They leaked alot more fuel than they should be, infact the vials filled up within no time at all.

So, now i have been quoted just over £1000 including VAT for 2 x Injectors, fitted.

I am tempted to source some from ebay or the like and have a go at replacing them myself.

Has anyone here done this and can offer any advice on what to watch out for.

Not sure of your location but there's a few decent ones out there.

Just wanted to update this thread to say that I managed to buy 4 brand new injectors injectors for £149.99 each. The garage fitted them for me beginning of November for £200 and since then the car has been perfect!!!

I realise I only needed 2 but thought go the whole hog and replace the lot to keep them all the same.

Thanks to everyone for your help and advice.
