Hi the boot on my car would not open at the weekend and after faffing for ages eventually I got it open, but for the life of me I cannot find a manual lock, there is a blanking plate but looks like it doesn't come off. am I going mad.

It has like a rectangle blanking plate on the right. DSCF0757.JPG

Do you mean the latch lever is sticky? If so this is usually a broken spring in the handle. You'll need to remove the handle entirely from the car to get to it. Its probably easier to source a second hand handle and swap it over.

The blanking plate does appear to cover the mechanical lock:

Depending on your year its also possible the mechanical lock was deleted.

Yes thanks for the reply, you are right no mechanical lock on estate, why oh why...have taken boot lid panel off and cleaned and lubed what I could see up and seems alot better now. I also filed off a rough edge on boot lock metal locking clasp and seems alot better, fingers crossed.
