Cd Changed...does It Play Mp3's ?

Hi,

I just got my new e320 and have an in dash cd changer. I was under the impression that this would play mp3 cds but i can only play the mp3 cds through the top loading slot on the comand. Is this normal or do i have to burn the mp3's in a particular way? I use itunes.
