Having spent the money on the coating it'd be ruined for a 'ha'porth of tar' in not buying a lambswool wash mitt, microfibre drying towel and decent shampoo out of 2 buckets with grit guards. Good advice from your mate, though I'd use lambswool over the shorter pile microfibre one any day. You'll get years worth of protection.
No need to add wax to a ceramic coating.

You did well to get 9 months out of Supaguard, sounds like they actually applied it then.

Lovely car by the way- the 63 alloys really look good on it! How you liking it?
Loving it so far John, didn't realise they were 63 standard alloys thought they were only optionals on the 500..

I have noticed you can occasionally feel it change down when slowing, something I did not get on my previous autos, mind you apart from the 4.4 Range Rover all my others have been 3.0l v6 so it may be the engine size/torque difference?

I am finding the economy mode in comfort a little slow to react so the gearbox may still be learning my habits, sport mode is so stupendous the wife refuses to even try it! I would love a 63 or 65 but it is a daily driver and probably a little too much for my use...

If I get bored (unlikely) I have already looked at a local tuner who specialises in Merc tunes and has promised another 80 bhp in return for £800.

The 63 has a proper exhaust sound, if I could replicate that would be more than happy ;-).

Looks lush that’s for sure!
Is yours the 4.7 twin turbo? The 7g gearbox will blip down as well as kick up- with the right exhaust you’ll get some nice pops....
I never used the Comfort/Eco mode in my SL500 and don’t in the 63, it’s just annoying - and kicks in the stop/start which I personally feel is bad for an engine!
The twin turbos are very tuneable - GAD do good work and are sponsors on here, best to pick comeone for sure who has a dyno and can test the before/after and produce you a torque curve and performance improvement read out (there are some witch doctors out there claim all sorts)
Exhaust is always a great subject, sound improvement can be made having an X pipe fitted (will also give you a few more HP potentially), and/or removing secondary cats (delete)
Lots can be done if you get bored, as you say, of course the cheapest fix is to leave it out of comfort mode !

Yes is the 4.7 twin turbo and it is GAD quoting on the tune, luckily they are local to me, I am planning a visit to discuss the exhaust sound but you have convinced me, permanent sport mode it is will just have to remember to switch it to comfort for the wife so she doesn't have to keep changing her underwear ;-).

Did mine glass coat last month, the beading is superb and cleaning is far easier. Definitely worth it
