nice one! just found a 16" set with dunlop's winter, immaculate for about 400 pounds. will be checking them out tomorrow. according to my checking of the charts it fits my w204, they come from a c220 d 2012, fingers crossed!
Just make sure they fit over your brakes and that they have the correct offset and hole size (yours are 14mm, early cars are 12mm).

Found the two specs Looking at 205/55/16 (7jx16 ET43) to buy

Will it fit what my specs suggest at 205/60/16 (6.5Jx16 ET38)

Your car should have 205/55/16 winter tyres looking at that. 225/50 is the summer size. 205/60 tyres will be taller and may not clear arches/suspension components. They'll also possibly cause insurance issues unless declared as a non-standard fitment.

If the standard size is a 225/50 R17 then a Winter on 16" rims will be a 225/55 R16 or a 205/60 R16 to maintain the rolling ratio, there is 0.8% difference in the circumference

Look at your VIN number. Your car will be whatever the first six numbers are.
For example WDB230475.....
means it is an r230, sub model 475 (5 litre) - these is often seen written as 230.475 so in your case it will be ***204×××***... or ***205×××***...

Somewhere on here is a full decode I wrote explaining what the VIN means.

Used to have a C63...
If you go the All Season route, I can very much recommend Nokian WR A3 - excellent tyre, performed well on my W203 including some pretty grotty winter trips to the North East. Also proved very comfortable in warmer months.

If you go for full winters, then the WR D(3) range is worth a look.

I've been running the Nexen Winguard Sports on my W203 C230 Sport Pack for the last few years. We take the vehicle down to the French Alps every winter and they seem to perform really well in those conditions. They are also V rated so OK for high speed motorway / autoroute use. Check your manual for winter wheel / tyre set-up. I normally have the staggered set up but with winter tyres it's 225/45 17s all round. 16" rims definitely wouldn't fit over the calipers. I have a set of Dezent RE wheels from Performance Alloys. They are made in Germany, TUV approved and look really good. https://www.performancealloys.com/dezent-re-silver?pcd=5x112

Same wheels I bought in September with MO spec Pirelli Scotzeros
Did you get a fitting kit? I’ve not fitted mine yet but received a full set of new bolts and a plastic centring ring for each wheel with the order.

Just noticed my winter wheels and tyres and now £100 more expensive

If current trend is to be believed (and none of the data available to me is contradicting it) then by May I'll be £800 to the good, so I'll be able to buy some new summer boots with the profit I've made on the winters.

I should run for Chancellor with my sound financial planning :D

Hey everyone

Just wanted to thank you all for your amazing advice

Bit the bullet and got some original 16” MB alloys and put winters on Now my 17” in the shed till the summer

Will post At the weekend

Next adventure A1 service on Monday Computer indicating wear in brake pads, they do look a wee bit on the thin side though (checked whilst swapping wheels). How much have any of yous paid at the MB dealership for this?

Thanks again

As in brakes at MB indie and service at dealers?
Correct- the labour content is about 2/2.5 hours for 4 x corners so it’s c£135/hour vs c£70/hour and the pads themselves are similarly priced really. Is there less than 3mm on the pads then?
