....what? ...worse than a Range Rover?;)
Ouch, that is a low blow  - JLR are suffering pretty badly with reliability, can't wait to see they're new electric RR, I expect that will be spending a lot of time at the dealers. I know a couple of RR Sports (18 plate) that have spent more time in the dealers than on the owners drive

I was going to buy an SL500 but I've decided even using Man Maths (buying with the heart and not head) I can't make it work.
Maybe give it 12 months.

We've had our SL500 (r129) 3 years now and don't regret a second of buying it - even if it did need a new engine harness and throttle body loom (both of which I knew before buying). The r230 SL500 we've had a year and aside from a battery drain, crank pulley and front strut (known about before we got it) it's been fantastic and I don't regret it at all. Even if it does throw a big bill I'd not regret it.

I dreamed of owning an R230 for 15 years. I've got one now and don't regret it one bit. I don't even need a car let alone a 5 litre V8 but if you take notice of common sense you'll never have anything but the run of the mill.
What other car looks and drives so well for the money.

Not a single issue with my R231 SL500 at all, if you want trouble free motoring buy an R231, no ABC to go wrong, quicker to 60 than an R230 SL63 AMG and matches the R230 SL65 on paper.

My R230 is a joy to me every time I catch sight of it. Driving it is a real pleasure. I've had a couple of bills to pay, but while it's in the garage being fixed I just miss it. Nothing I have ever bought has given me more pleasure.

I downgraded to an SL350 then had a deep look in my wallet. It's on hold for at least 12 months. I even gave an old SLK (2002 ish) a look but many of them suffer tin worm at the £1500-£2k mark which is my maximum spend today.

I'll be down to just two cars in a couple of weeks. My heart has had me in trouble a few times. :p
