Hi Guys (and gals!); The 3 pointed star on the boot lid of my 2013 C Class is damaged.
Anyone know where I can get a replacement for a sensible price?
Yes, I know it's a Mercedes but come on, its a couple of grams of plastic.
At least Dick Turpin wore a mask!
Many thanks.

Ebay is your friend....loads of non original minor parts on there (sometimes better than originals!)

Smart + others :)
Is it worth the risk of not fitting, poor quality and hassle for the sake of £18? I know it's a bit of chromed plastic but you have spent X on a 2013 car.

Agree with John. Ebay first - it's not a safety-related or long-life essential component.

A friend broke his inner door handle on his 204. Merc wanted just over £500 for a replacement, because 'it comes with the complete door card as a package sir'. It's plastic, worth a few cents.

It was a big decision, because gorilla glue isn't cheap, but that's the route we took!

I've learnt my lesson with a few aftermarket parts, some costing me loads in the long run, so genuine for me now. Though you can shop around, some dealers offer better deals with Mercedes parts than other branches ;)

I bought one a few years ago from Mercedes & it was only £12, so £18 is quite an increase.

Many thanks for the responses to my query.
I saw a couple on E Bay but factoring in the P & P took it to £23.
So I'm off to the local MB dealer to pay £22.50.
I almost gave China a go but I was worried about the quality/fit.
Such a shame MB take our eyeballs out over silly bits of plastic.

Och aye, JBell, see you jimmy, you're a belter.
Just phoned Steven at MB Grangemouth and got a deal...a new tristar, post free for less than £20.
Now THAT's how to garner business.
Still dear for a piece of plastic but cheaper than my local MB dealer and I find that MB grangemouth have 'deals' on this site on a regular basis...a win win situation.
Thanks for the responses, maybe I'll be of assistance to others on here one day.
Here's one to be going on with;

Grangemouth are great for parts but I'd still look for used genuine knowing how much a new one is. Beware breakers who charge more than new!!

Mercedes want £33 for an armrest catch they openly admit isn't the same colour as the one fitted to the car!

Ah but what a bit of plastic... representing the pinnacle in mass produced automobiles and engineered to the highest standards its not a mere piece of plastic but a work of art and engineering excellence....
