What's the displacement on these, about 1300cc isn't it?

Correct.

Insurance companies use some kinda fudge factor to equate them to a 2.6 litre engine capacity.

Correct.

Insurance companies use some kinda fudge factor to equate them to a 2.6 litre engine capacity.

From Wikipedia:

The key for comparing the displacement between the 4-cycle engine and the rotary engine is in studying the degrees of rotation for a thermodynamic cycle to occur. For a 4-cycle engine to complete every thermodynamic cycle, the engine must rotate 720° or two complete revolutions of the crankshaft. The rotary engine is different. The engine rotor rotates at 1/3 the speed of the crankshaft. On two rotor engines, front and rear rotors are 180° offset from each other. Each rotation of the engine (360°) will bring two faces through the combustion cycle (the torque input to the eccentric shaft). This said, it takes 1080° or three complete revolutions of the crankshaft to complete the entire thermodynamic cycle. Obviously, there is a disparity. How can we get a relatable number to compare to a 4-stroke engine? The best way is to study 720° of rotation of the two-rotor engine. Every 360° of rotation, two faces of the engine complete a combustion cycle. 720° will have a total of four faces completing their cycle. 40ci(654cc) per face times four faces equals 160ci or 2.6L. That's a well-reasoned number and now gives something that can be compared to other engines. In addition, since four faces passed by in the comparison, it’s like a four-cylinder engine. The 13B therefore compares well to a 2.6L 4-cylinder 4-cycle engine.[

Welcome

Not to mention the oil consumption!!!

Something that is much overplayed about rotaries. A healthy Mazda Rotary should burn around 1.2 litres per 3000 miles.
I've had two C240s that have used more than that!

I just spotted your profile location, very good sir!

Hehe... M113 engine. 1 litre per 1000km is permissible.

Wankel engine. 1 litre per 100km is permissible ;)

Looks same colour combo as mine :) chalcedony blue / grey leather

Hope the niggles get sorted soon and you enjoy it, had my front pulsation damper changed last year. Not desperately expensive, flush the ABC fluid and new 3 micron filter while you are at it.

Oooooof. First drive to work in the car and loving it!

ABC stuff seems to be sorted but I'm sure there'll be other niggles to iron out at some point. Not too worried about it just going to enjoy it and revel in the smooth comfort.

First impressions of the car on my daily commute are that it's:

A) Lovely
B) Not bad round the twisties that make up a good portion of my drive
C) Nicely quiet which may need altering to let loose some of the V8 exhaust woofle at some later point
D) Sound system is good with an excellent sound stage in the cabin
E) Lovely

And the acid test was that I looked back at it once I'd parked it up and was quite proud that such a big barge was mine to enjoy.

Small update, working through the little niggles.

Rear third brake light replaced today. The old light lens had fallen off prior to me buying the car so whole unit had to be bought as the lens is not available on its own.

Not a terrible job but Merc connector blocks seem to be more difficult the the stuff I've messed with before.

Once I'd disconnected the light unit the other problem was the little screws holding it in were corroded in place and needed drilling out. Carefully drilling them out was a bit nervy as one small slip and the plastic boot lid would have additional ventilation.

All in place and with my daughter to stand on the pedal I got all led's lit up. Clip the red lens in place with the little gasket underneath and bosh everything back together

I've read about people blobbing some glue to keep the lens in but not sure where the best place would be. If I ever need to get it out I'm not sure I want glue all over the place.

Small update....new wheels

20171012_181932.jpg

In related news, I seem to have managed to paint 4mm of super bleedin expensive Continental Premium Contact 6 rear tyre tread onto the roads of Cheshire and North Wales in the last 2 months and 2200miles!!!

Think the next set of rears will have to be more robust, the Contis stick like shiite to a blanket but that kind of modern art is a bit more expensive than I can run to.

Next week.....these go on

I don't think I'll be able to see them through the wheels but ho hum

Fitted with some redstuff pads, they should haul the old barge to a stop pretty well.

The wafting to work this morning was good.

Ps, I can only commend you on the choice of colour :)

My previous car was a Subaru Legacy GTB (twin turbo)... I'm actually seeing better mpg on the CL, often the GTB was at 18mpg

The Scooby was easy to find in car parks :)

Liking your CL, looks good.

I'm averaging about 19.5mpg in the CL. My commute is lots of country roads and not much cruising so I really don't expect to get any more than that
