Vehicles first used on 1 April 1985 or later
The front windscreen must let at least 75% of light through and the front side windows must let at least 70% of light through.

Oh and window tint isn't part of an MOT test but the fact you can get an MOT with it doesn't make it legal.

I can't say too much because I bought my car with tints and they are not legal on the front Been on for over 4yrs now.

There is. Less than 32% is deemed illegal. That is more like a 70% tint.
I can't say too much because I bought my car with tints and they are not legal on the front Been on for over 4yrs now.

To be fair Rodger, yours are probably only just over the limit something like a 40% tint, so it would have to be a very bored office to pull you over for that.

When you bear in mind the windows are already tinted from the factory the amount of tint you can legally add is quite small.

Possibly Matty. Its still illegal though and I really must remove it before winter begins in earnest.

An immediate prohibition notice will do. Either the driver takes it off or calls a tow truck.

Same for illegal plates too.
